Biography

Dr. Siddhartha Verma received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2009 and his PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from Caltech in 2014. During his doctoral studies, he investigated the turbulent transport of low-diffusivity particles using a combination of theory, modeling, and high-performance computations. After completing his PhD, Dr. Verma moved to ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral scholar, where he combined high-fidelity simulations with stochastic optimization and machine learning techniques. These studies helped establish an understanding of how fish exert fine-tuned control over their surrounding flow, in addition to uncovering the complex interplay between fluid mechanics and decision-making in coordinated group-locomotion. Dr. Verma is currently a faculty member in the Ocean and Mechanical Engineering department at the Florida Atlantic University.
