**About the *All of Us* Research Program** **Our mission** *All of Us* is a large research program created by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2015. Our mission is simple: We want to speed up health research so that everyone can get personalized health care to prevent and treat disease. To do this, we're asking a million or more people to share their health information. Researchers study this information to make discoveries. What they are learning could improve health for generations to come. **Our goals** **Precision medicine for everyone** Right now, treatments and medicines are similar for most people-even though we're all different. But what if your health care was based on your own DNA, environment, and lifestyle? This kind of personal health care is called precision medicine. With help from participants and researchers, the *All of Us* Research Program is working to create a future where prevention, treatment, and care are tailored to you. [Why join *All of Us*](https://www.joinallofus.org/why-join-all-of-us) **Building trust with communities** Health research requires trust. But trust doesn't happen overnight. To build trust, the *All of Us* Research Program works closely with our participants and local community groups. With feedback from these advisors, *All of Us* updates the program to reflect the interests of the communities we serve. We try to listen better, learn more, and work toward a healthier future together. One way we do this is by [engaging Tribal leaders in formal meetings](https://www.joinallofus.org/all-of-us-research-program-tribal) called "consultations." These conversations have changed how *All of Us* communicates with American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people, collects information from AI/AN participants, and protects their data and samples. *All of Us* takes many steps to keep participants and their information safe. For example, the *All of Us* [Institutional Review Board](https://allofus.nih.gov/about/who-we-are/institutional-review-board-irb-of-all-of-us) oversees our research to protect the rights and well-being of participants. *All of Us* also has a [Resource Access Board](https://www.researchallofus.org/faq/what-is-the-resource-access-board-rab/) that can review research projects that study *All of Us* data. When the Resource Access Board reviews a project, it checks that the researchers follow our rules and do their research in a safe and ethical way. The board is made up of participant representatives and experts in human subjects research, research ethics, and privacy and security. **Who powers the *All of Us* Research Program?** *All of Us* is made up of a large community of participants, researchers, partners, leadership, and staff.
