Description
Our Mission Over 10,000 miles may separate us. 14 hours may stand between one’s day and the other’s night. And the greatest ocean may make it seem like we’re a world apart. Yet we have never been closer than we are today. In celebrating our many differences, Americans and Australians have always come together under a common belief in freedom, openness and optimism to unite our two great countries. With ambitious vigor, we forge new paths to progress and embrace our responsibility as world leaders. For 75 years, the American Australian Association has connected our two cultures, guided our people and provided new opportunities for a diverse network of trail blazers. We build enduring connections where culture, commerce and community come together to open the door to boundless possibility. What We Do Established by Sir Keith Murdoch in New York City in 1948, the American Australian Association is the leading privately funded nonprofit organization dedicated to broadening, strengthening and developing ties across the Pacific. For years, our programs have connected our two cultures, guided our people and provided new opportunities for a diverse network of trail blazers. The consistent leadership, influence and cooperation we bring to our two countries allows us to find agile and effective solutions to the challenges that come our way. We have a long and impressive history of serving the relationship between the United States and Australia, providing an important forum for collaboration and exchange between political and business leaders – the US President, Australian Prime Ministers, Federal and State Cabinet Ministers, and the chief executives of leading companies across the United States and Australia have been among the many individuals hosted. Our scholarships & exchanges champion progress, creativity and expression, providing opportunities to young American and Australian leaders to undertake transformational study, research and professional or artistic development in each other’s country. To date, we have awarded almost US$18 million to over 1,100 graduates, veterans, artists and indigenous scholars. We exist to benefit all American and Australians. Whatever your background, we pride ourselves on being actively fair, equitable and inclusive to our diverse membership.
