Description
About AHRF At the American Hearing Research Foundation (AHRF), we recognize the boundless potential of new ideas. That’s why we focus our resources on providing seed grants for novel research to better understand and overcome hearing and balance disorders of the inner ear, funding five to ten research projects each year, with grant awards up to $50,000. We also work hard to educate the public about these life-altering conditions, which are inextricably linked to people’s quality of life and their ability to meet the challenges of day-to-day living. Tracing our roots back to the first-ever successful operation to restore hearing, AHRF has been making new discoveries possible for more than 60 years. AHRF was founded in 1956 by Dr. George E. Shambaugh, Jr. **Our Mission:** To fund groundbreaking research that can help us understand our hearing and balance functions, find solutions to hearing and balance disorders, and educate people about these. **Our Purpose:** To help alleviate the developing hearing health crisis through groundbreaking research and education. Our goal is to prevent and identify hearing and balance disorders, and preserve and restore hearing and balance function. **Our Vision:** A world where people thrive by preventing, identifying, and responding to hearing loss and balance disorders. **Our Values:** - **Excellence –** Committing to the highest level of quality in every aspect of our work to ensure the best possible outcomes for our mission and those we work with and serve. - **F****iscal Responsibility –** Investing and managing resources wisely and setting and meeting fiscal goals and standards. - **Innovation –** Applying full attention to and supporting ideas that can be transformed into practical application in service of our purpose. - **Service –** Finding scientific breakthroughs in support of the health and well being of those who are physically, emotionally, and mentally affected by hearing and balance disorders.
