Description
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center is where art, nature, and community come together. Through exhibitions, public art, educational programs, festivals, and creative experiences, we connect people of all ages with art and one another. Explore below to learn more about our mission, history, leadership, impact, and the public and private support that makes our work possible.
**MISSION**
Annmarie is committed to connecting people to art and nature. Through a wide variety of engaging exhibits, programs, classes, public projects, and annual events, Annmarie opens up opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and reflection. By providing opportunities for visitors to experience and engage in imaginative activities, Annmarie seeks to nurture the human spirit and contribute to a healthy society.
**MANAGEMENT**
The 30-acre grounds of Annmarie Sculpture Garden are owned and supported by the [Board of Calvert County Commissioners](http://www.co.cal.md.us/index.aspx?nid=137). In accordance with the lease and management agreement, Annmarie is operated by the Koenig Private Foundation, a private, non-profit, charitable organization. The Foundation employs the staff of Annmarie and seeks out grants and donations to support the payroll budget and fund special projects at Annmarie.
The many activities and programs of Annmarie are supported by Ann's Circle, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose board consists of residents drawn from the Southern Maryland community. Ann's Circle offers a membership package with a variety of attractive benefits. Membership is open to all!
**FUNDING**
The fifty-acre property that comprises Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center is owned by the people of Calvert County and relies on support from three entities for its operating, capital improvement, and events and programming budgets. An annual grant from the Calvert County Commissioners to the Koenig Private Foundation supports the operating budget. The Koenig Private Foundation and Ann's Circle work together to raise funds for the payroll budget. The Foundation also helps raise funds for capital projects. Ann's Circle manages the many programs, events, classes, exhibits, and activities of Annmarie, as well as the membership program and the gift shop. For additional information about this successful, fifteen-years+ collaborative partnership, please contact Stacey Hann-Ruff, the director of Annmarie, at director@annmariegarden.org.
Five main sources funded construction of the award-winning Arts Building, which opened in 2008: the [State of Maryland](http://www.maryland.gov/), the [Calvert County Commissioners](http://www.co.cal.md.us/index.aspx?nid=137), Friends of Annmarie Garden, the Koenig Private Foundation, and Ann's Circle, Inc.
