Description
**Vision Statement** Arizona is a leader in providing a safe and abundant food supply in a fair and equitable marketplace that supports a thriving economy and resilient environment. **Mission Statement** To protect the health and safety of Arizona consumers, advance and support Arizona agriculture, and safeguard commerce. **What We Do** The Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) was created through comprehensive legislation adopted in 1991 to bring together separate boards and commissions that regulated and protected agriculture, business, and public health. In the 2010s, the Arizona Legislature officially moved the Office of Pest Management and the Office of Weights and Measures into the Department's oversight jurisdiction. Today, the Department protects consumer safety, facilitates commerce, promotes equity in the Arizona marketplace, and safeguards market access both domestically and internationally through a variety of inspection, licensing, certification, and testing programs involving: ? **Agricultural Staples & Organics:** Plants, livestock, meat, dairy, vegetables, citrus, fruit, and eggs. ? **Agribusiness Inputs:** Feed, fertilizer, seed, and agricultural / non-agricultural pesticides. ? **Marketplace & Standards:** Packaged consumer goods, retail pricing accuracy, and commercial weighing and measuring devices.
