Arts Queensland, part of the [Department of Education](https://qed.qld.gov.au/about-us "Dept. of Education - About Us"), is committed to building a strong and sustainable sector which supports the renewal and transformation of Queensland through arts, culture and creativity. Our objective is to enhance Queenslanders' access to arts and culture through investment in the creation, development and presentation of arts product, cultural experiences and cultural infrastructure. Arts Queensland is committed to ensuring integrity, accountability and consultation in delivering on our responsibilities and approach and communicating outcomes. Arts Queensland is leading the implementation of [Queensland's Time to Shine: a 10-year strategy for arts and culture 2025-2035](https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/about-us/queenslands-time-to-shine-strategy-2025-2035) across the Queensland Government in partnership with key stakeholders. **Our responsibilities** - Support the Minister for the Arts in setting the state government's strategic policy direction for arts and culture in Queensland. - Lead the implementation of arts, cultural and creative policy, including [Queensland's Time to Shine,](https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/about-us/queenslands-time-to-shine-strategy-2025-2035) across Queensland in partnership with key stakeholders. - Facilitate delivery of the Queensland Government's arts and cultural priorities and administer government investment in funding programs and capital works programs. - Oversee and report on the Queensland Government's investment in arts and culture and ensure the best use of public funds. - Manage the state's arts and cultural assets, including the [Queensland Cultural Centre](https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/about-us/our-spaces/queensland-cultural-centre) at Brisbane's South Bank; [Judith Wright Arts Centre](https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/about-us/our-spaces/judith-wright-arts-centre) and [Festival House](https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/about-us/our-spaces/festival-house) in Fortitude Valley; and [Bulmba-ja](https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/about-us/our-spaces/bulmba-ja) in Cairns. - Support the governance and compliance of arts companies and arts statutory bodies in the Arts portfolio. **Our approach** Invest in arts and culture to deliver social, cultural and economic outcomes for Queensland. **Our portfolio** The Queensland Government is investing $391.9 million in 2026-27 through the Arts portfolio. This investment supports five arts statutory bodies, four arts-owned companies and more than 300 arts and cultural organisations, festivals, artists, regional arts programs and tours, screen productions and games development, studios, venues and galleries across the state. **Arts statutory bodies** The arts statutory bodies are established and operate in accordance with their own enabling legislation. Each body is governed by a board and receives administered funding from the Queensland Government. - Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees - responsible for the [Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art](https://www.qagoma.qld.gov.au) - Board of the Queensland Museum - responsible for the [Queensland Museum Network](http://www.qm.qld.gov.au) - Queensland Performing Arts Trust - responsible for the [Queensland Performing Arts Centre](http://www.qpac.com.au) - Queensland Theatre Company - responsible for the [Queensland Theatre](http://www.queenslandtheatre.com.au) - Library Board of Queensland - responsible for the [State Library of Queensland](http://www.slq.qld.gov.au) **Companies** The arts companies are established under and operate in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
