b-solutions

The b-solutions project is promoted by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and managed by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR). b-solutions tackles legal and administrative obstacles to cross-border cooperation in Europe, supporting actors of cross-border cooperation at all levels. Launched under the European Commission's 2017 Communication "[Boosting growth and cohesion in EU border regions](https://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/en/information/publications/communications/2017/boosting-growth-and-cohesion-in-eu-border-regions)" and building on the 2021 report "[EU Border Regions: Living labs of European integration](https://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/en/information/publications/reports/2021/eu-border-regions-living-labs-of-european-integration)", this initiative focuses on key thematic areas: institutional cooperation, public services, labour market and education, and the implementation of the European Green Deal. The project unfolds in three phases: - b-solutions (January 2018 - December 2021) - b-solutions 2.0 (January 2022 - September 2024) - b-solutions 3.0 (October 2024 - December 2026). Between 2018 and September 2024, six calls for proposals were launched, inviting practitioners and policymakers to identify and propose solutions to cross-border obstacles. The last call remains open and is ongoing. b-solutions offers technical support: cases are evaluated by legal experts who are selected through an open [call for expressions of interest](https://www.b-solutionsproject.com/experts-apply). The results and best practices are shared through compendiums and thematic analyses in our [online library](https://www.b-solutionsproject.com/library). b-solutions tackles legal or administrative obstacles hindering cross-border cooperation projects and initiatives.
