**The Center for Health Policy**
The Center for Health Policy is one of eight centers at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, Stanford University’s premier institute for the study of international affairs. FSI is home to some 150 researchers and faculty, including political theorists, physicians, former ambassadors, nuclear physicists and economists. “We know that health gains in middle- to low-income countries lead to stronger democracies, which in turn supports our own national security interests," says [FSI Director Mike McFaul.](https://fsi.stanford.edu/people/michael_a_mcfaul) While the Department of Health Policy falls under the [Stanford University School of Medicine](https://med.stanford.edu/school.html), the Center for Health Policy at FSI emphasizes the importance of health policy research across all disciplines, including economics, political science and the law.
