Description
The UNO Department of Chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS). Continued approval was most recently awarded in 2017 with the next evaluation scheduled for 2023. Chemistry graduates can earn an ACS-certified degree if they meet additional course requirements specified by the ACS, but certification is not required for graduation. See your advisor for the proper course choice to meet ACS certification requirements. The basis for our chemistry curriculum offered at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) is The American Chemical Society (ACS) guidelines for professional training. Courses in general, organic, inorganic, analytical, environmental, and physical chemistry form the framework of our program. In addition, we offer coursework in biochemistry, organic, inorganic, and polymer chemistry, along with other advanced topics. For students not needing an intense level of chemistry, we offer a fundamentals track (college and organic chemistry, biochemistry) that meets the requirements for students enrolling in many health-related professional schools.
