CAPE - The Community Assessment and Education to Promote Behavioral Health Planning and Evaluation is dedicated to identifying and sharing best practices for benchmarking community behavioral health.
Benchmarking involves assessing trends and comparing one's own metrics with those of other places. Many aspects of health are related to behaviors by individuals but the community sets the context for development of behaviors that may be healthy or unhealthy.
Community-level interventions range from policing and prisons to prenatal care. Making decisions about where to invest limited funds available at the local level for community behavioral health improvement is complex, and the answers may change with time as new health threats arise and old issues fade.
