Community Foundation for a greater Richmond

Our Journey Life in the greater Richmond region is enhanced by abundant diversity and cultural richness. Residents – who may or may not share history or perspective, interests or experience – share a desire to live in a vibrant region where all individuals and families can thrive and prosper. As we work together to realize this vision, our community is expanding to include and embrace all donors; to ensure that spaces created for problem solving hold space for everyone; and to reflect a commitment to partnership in service to others. While a lot has changed since our inception, much remains the same: The importance and urgency of the work to be done and our commitment to do it. Serving The Region The Community Foundation for a greater Richmond is a public charity with a focus on strengthening the Richmond, Virginia region. We support local individuals, families and organizations in crafting charitable giving plans and strategies that address community needs and support local nonprofits. Our service area encompasses the cities of Richmond, Ashland, Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, Goochland, and Powhatan. Our Affiliate Foundations serve localities in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, with service areas that include the counties of Mathews, Gloucester, Middlesex, Northumberland and Lancaster. In addition, we do serve donors who live elsewhere but choose to work with us because of their tie to the region. In addition, donor directed grantmaking can be used to support nonprofits across the country.
