Description
**About Maseeh College**
Portland State University is Oregon’s most innovative, diverse, and affordable public research university, located in one of the nation’s most desirable places to live, and the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science is your testing ground for putting new ideas into action. We believe in involving everyone—from freshmen to faculty to community—in solving the problems facing our region and our world. The hub of PSU’s mission to “let knowledge serve,” Maseeh College includes five departments, 132 faculty members, and more than 2,700 students, and we offer academic programs that provide transformative opportunities within the classroom and beyond. Our faculty includes six National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award winners and two members of the National Academy of Engineering (more than any other school in Oregon).
When you join our college, you'll be at the heart of an intellectually-challenging, personally rewarding, and purposefully inclusive environment, connected to Portland’s “silicon forest,” a nexus of growing, innovative industries and agencies. Maseeh College prepares you to gain competitive jobs in growing industries like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, smart grids, and green energy. You can participate in research, community-based learning projects, student groups, internship programs, networking events, and other opportunities to enhance your education experience, and our Career Center is dedicated to helping you land the job of your dreams.
We are proud that nontraditional students are an integral part of our tradition, welcoming more transfer students and career changers than any other college in Oregon. Maseeh College is also a champion for access to engineering and computer science education: almost half of our student body is non-white, and 45% of them are the first generation to attend college. The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) recently awarded Maseeh Bronze Level Recognition in their Diversity Recognition Program.
