Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences - Office of Multidisciplinary Activities

The SBE Office of Multidisciplinary Activities (SMA) supports activities that cut across disciplinary boundaries in the Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) and beyond. While many programs in the directorate support interdisciplinary work, SMA serves as an incubator for new programs and plays a critical role in the development of these programs' supporting infrastructure. Co-funding with other divisions and other directorates is typical for SMA, as is participation in interagency activities. All areas of the social, behavioral and economic sciences are represented in the SMA portfolio.
