Our Chapter
The Georgia Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (GA AFS) is a local chapter of the American Fisheries Society (AFS). With over 180 members annually, GA AFS is dedicated to conserving our fisheries and aquatic resources, advancing fisheries science, and strengthening the fisheries profession. [Membership](https://georgiaafs.my.canva.site/membership) in GA AFS is open to anyone interested in the progress of fisheries science and education, and the conservation and management of fisheries resources in Georgia. Our members come from throughout the Southeast, ranging from natural resource managers, aquaculturists, researchers, conservationists, and numerous biological disciplines; and representing state and federal government, academia, private consulting, industry, and recreational fishing interests.
Mission
The mission of the [American Fisheries Society](http://www.fisheries.org/) and the Georgia Chapter is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.
