Description
The mission of the Global Partnerships Unit is to facilitate and promote strategic public-private partnerships across the Department of State and bring a variety of stakeholders together to advance America’s security, stability, and prosperity. We tap into the capabilities of America’s dynamic private sector to facilitate cost-effective uses of taxpayer dollars to advance our foreign policy priorities. Since its inception in 2008, the Global Partnerships Unit has worked with more than 1,800 private sector partners and mobilized more than $3 billion in private sector resource commitments.

The Global Partnerships Unit serves as a direct link for the private sector to collaborate with the Department of State on top foreign policy priorities. Through our innovative approach to diplomacy and cross-sector collaboration, the Global Partnerships Unit convenes leaders across government, industry, civil society, and academia to advance American interests.
Founded in 2008 by Secretary Condoleezza Rice on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee for Transformational Diplomacy, the Global Partnerships Unit capitalizes on the significant opportunities for partnerships to advance foreign policy goals and expand the scope and effectiveness of the Department’s initiatives. We facilitate and promote public-private partnerships across the Department of State and brings a wide range of stakeholders together to advance peace, security, stability, and prosperity at home and abroad.
