Black Lives Matter The Golden Valley Community Foundation welcomes the expression, consideration and dialogue that have arisen and are yet rising in response to the murder of George Floyd. We stand committed that Black Lives Matter. Our own mission statement charges us to use philanthropy, program initiatives and funding support to address the changing needs of our community, our neighbors and friends. We join with and support other philanthropic and community organizations taking on social justice causes. It is time to reconvene an old conversation and create new ways to address and redress the poisonous effects of slavery. It’s time to undo the social and civic mechanisms of systemic racism. We are deeply grateful for our relationship with Rose McGee and Sweet Potato Comfort Pies' community healing efforts. We welcome grant requests through our Small Sparks Grants programs that further these intentions. Going forward we will explore how we might best bring about a change in social justice, inclusivity, and the elimination of structural racism. Our Impact Golden Valley is a thriving community with many individuals and organizations actively seeking to improve our neighborhoods and our city. The Golden Valley Community Foundation (GVCF) is unique as a nonprofit public charity created by and for the people of Golden Valley.
