**Mission and Purpose** The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to offer baccalaureate degree programs of excellence in engineering that serve the needs of the West Florida region, the state, and the nation. The goal of the baccalaureate degree programs is to prepare students to embark upon a professional career in mechanical engineering or to pursue graduate study. All programs shall be revised continuously to improve quality and respond to current workforce needs. **Vision** The vision of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to be recognized in the state of Florida and the nation for its outstanding undergraduate teaching and outreach programs, and for the quality, character, and integrity of its graduates and faculty.
