**MISSION** 1. Support organizations providing services for the betterment of the health, education, guidance or welfare of children or adolescents (defined as children age 17 and younger, and referred to collectively as "youth") residing in Ventura County, California; 2. Support organizations engaged in cancer research; 3. Support St. John's Regional Medical Center, located in Oxnard, California, to be used exclusively for the purchase, maintenance, and support of fetal monitors. **HISTORY** Harriet H. Samuelsson was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 9, 1908. She graduated from Pratt Institute, School of Design, New York in 1929. She was a resident of Oxnard, California for more than 50 years and served on the board that founded the Boys Club of Oxnard in 1954. As a longtime board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Oxnard, California, she received many accolades for her local and national participation and support. Harriet is well known in a number of nonprofits for her consistent generosity. Over the years, the charities included the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, City of Hope and March of Dimes. She is remembered most of all for her passionate support of organizations that benefit children, especially the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ventura County. She also financially supported children in foreign countries through various agencies. "Harriet had no children, but she had lots of children." **WELCOME** The Harriet H. Samuelsson Foundation provides grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that support youth age 17 and under in Ventura County, California or that are engaged in cancer research. Most grants are for partial funding of specific projects for a limited time.
