**Creating Change to Meet Global Needs** Creating effective change in the face of the world’s pressing sustainability, energy, and environmental needs is the driving purpose of the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE). We do that by bringing together faculty, students, and staff from across campus to focus on research solutions, campus sustainability, and education and outreach — all through an interdisciplinary lens. About Us > In 2013, the institute was created to lead an interdisciplinary approach to researching solutions for the world’s pressing sustainability, energy and environmental needs today and tomorrow. Our [research](https://isee.illinois.edu/research/) is organized into five distinct themes: Climate Solutions, Energy Transitions, Sustainable Infrastructure, Water and Land Stewardship, and Secure and Sustainable Agriculture. Preparing students to become leaders in sustainability is the goal of our [education](https://isee.illinois.edu/education-opportunities/) opportunities, which include an undergraduate minor. iSEE is also committed to leading [campus sustainability](https://isee.illinois.edu/campus-sustainability/) by convening faculty, staff and students to define goals, evaluate progress, and create opportunities for everyone on campus to get involved. iSEE is one of 10 [interdisciplinary research institutes](https://research.illinois.edu/about/illinois-research-institutes) that address global challenges under the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation. **Our Vision** iSEE elevates the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as a pioneer in sustainability, energy, and environmental leadership.
