John Randolph Foundation

**History** ****Supporting healthy communities since 1991**** John Randolph Foundation partners with donors and organizations in the Tri-Cities area of Virginia to support healthy communities and bright futures. JRF was initially established in 1991 as a supporting organization to the John Randolph Hospital, a nonprofit hospital at the time. In 1995, was sold to Columbia/HCA, a for-profit corporation, and the Foundation became a separate, nonprofit organization. The proceeds from the sale were given to the Foundation to establish an endowment, our Health Legacy Fund, which has grown steadily under our prudent investment policies. Through the generosity of our donors, JRF manages 128 charitable funds that support a variety of causes and has invested over $28 million in the community through grants and over $2.6 million in scholarships since 1995. John Randolph Foundation is one of Virginia’s 20 health legacy foundations, and is the only [**accredited community foundation**](https://www.cfstandards.org/) among them. And of the 26 community foundations in Virginia, JRF is one of 15 to receive the National Standards Seal as a symbol of excellence. JRF is a founding member of the Virginia Consortium of Health Philanthropy, a member of Philanthropy Southeast, Virginia Funders Network, and the Virginia Gift Planning Council.
