The Joy McCann Foundation is a private family foundation made possible by the benevolence of Hugh F. Culverhouse Sr. and Joy McCann Culverhouse. **Joy McCann & Hugh Culverhouse** Joy McCann met Hugh Culverhouse when he delivered dry cleaning to her sorority house on the campus of the University of Alabama. They quickly became college sweethearts and married before Hugh left for World War Two. They returned to the university where he taught accountancy and earned his law degree. Joy won the Alabama Women’s State Golf Championship in 1947 and 1949, the years their children were born. They were a couple destined for a successful future. **The Family Foundation** Before Hugh passed away, he created a family foundation to support those thirty-six charities which were dear to him. Today his wife Joy continues the family legacy of funding these programs as she and the board saw fit.
