ABOUT C&E The Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy (C&E) is one of 20 departments under the executive branch of the Louisiana State Government. Formerly known as the Department of Energy and Natural Resources (DENR), the agency was renamed on October 1, 2025, as per Act 458 of the 2025 Regular Session. The changes set forth in Act 458, signed by Governor Jeff Landry on June 24, 2025, are the product of an ambitious reform effort that began with Executive Order JML 24-13. C&E’s new structure enables the Department to modernize natural resource governance, oversight, and strategic planning and continuously innovate at the pace of the dynamic and transformative industries that it regulates.
