Mayor's Office of Civic Engagement

The Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement (ENG), under the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, is a new office dedicated to building the capacity and transforming the culture of New York City government (the City) to engage and mobilize New Yorkers effectively, inclusively, proactively, and consistently. ENG works across city agencies and mayoral offices to build civic capacity, streamline community engagement efforts, and foster a culture that values diverse voices. ENG advances community-driven solutions in close coordination with the primary engagement offices. The primary engagement offices include: the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit (CAU), the Civic Engagement Commission (CEC), the Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit (PEU), and NYC Service. Our goal is to empower communities—especially those most impacted by injustice and inequity—by ensuring their perspectives are incorporated into city decision-making processes.
