Mission
The Dalkowitz family members were prominent merchants and investors in San Antonio, Texas, Mexico and elsewhere. The Dalkowitz family’s first store was located across from City Hall in San Antonio. Sisters Nathalie and Gladys Dalkowitz were sophisticated, educated and cultural ladies who were members of the San Antonio Women’s Club.
They were particularly fond of the artistic, musical and cultural aspects of life in San Antonio. While proud of their Jewish heritage, they were ecumenical in their philanthropic support of other religions. The trust was established under the will of Nathalie Dalkowitz in memory of her sister, Gladys and other members of her family. Nathalie died in 1992 at the age of 102.
The Nathalie and Gladys Dalkowitz Charitable Trust serves a broad and diverse field of interests within Bexar County, Texas (San Antonio area). The sisters favored arts and culture, education, Jewish organizations and other ecumenical programs.
