Description
NAWI is a research program and public-private partnership supported by the United States Department of Energy (DOE) in partnership with the California Department of Water Resources and the California State Water Resources Control Board. NAWI brings together a world-class team of industry and academic partners to examine the critical technical barriers and research needed to radically lower the cost and energy of desalination and water reuse. NAWI is led by DOE's [Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory](https://www.lbl.gov/) in collaboration with the [National Laboratory of the Rockies](https://www.nlr.gov/), [Oak Ridge National Laboratory,](https://www.ornl.gov/) [National Energy Technology Laboratory](https://www.netl.doe.gov/), and the [SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory](https://www6.slac.stanford.edu/) and funded by the DOE [Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation's](https://www.energy.gov/cmei/office-critical-minerals-and-energy-innovation) [Industrial Technologies Office](https://www.energy.gov/cmei/ito/industrial-technologies-office) and [Hydropower and Hydrokinetic Office](https://www.energy.gov/cmei/water/hydropower-and-hydrokinetic-office).
