Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement

**Faculty advancement:** As part of Stanford’s administrative simplification efforts, the Provost’s Office is combining the Office of Faculty Development, Diversity and Engagement and the Office of Faculty Affairs into a new consolidated organization, the Office of Faculty Advancement. The change will be effective April 1, and the office will continue to be led by Vice Provost C. Matthew Snipp. As the name of our office suggests, we are focused on two main areas of support for the Stanford professoriate. Our focus in faculty development ranges from writing workshops to briefings for department chairs about important developments around the University. We host an annual workshop with the Provost to discuss with untenured faculty, the process of tenure and promotion at the University. Our efforts include the Provostial postdoctoral fellowship program. Faculty engagement entails activities to build a sense of community and we work with a variety of different faculty groups to facilitate these connections. This description of our office’s work is not an exhaustive list but we hope that it gives you a sense of who we are and what we do.
