Description
The Preparedness and Treatment Equity Coalition (PTEC) brings together private businesses, researchers, and advocates to narrow health disparities through a focus on metrics to identify inequity and through delivery system changes to close gaps in care.
**Vision**
The Preparedness and Treatment Equity Coalition takes a metrics-driven approach to close the gaps in pandemic care and services in underserved communities.
Black, Latinx, and Native American communities have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but disparities in care go further than that. PTEC aims to study and identify health system reforms to reduce health disparities, including access to testing and treatment, lower rates of adult vaccinations, and higher rates of conditions such as metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Through these findings, PTEC will advance policies and practices to help address urgent care gaps in underserved communities.
By bringing together private businesses, health researchers, health care providers, data analysts, and advocates, PTEC aims to improve social justice in the detection and treatment of underlying conditions that make pandemics more devastating.
**Our Goals**
We aim to:
Identify metrics to reduce health disparities in diagnosis and testing for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, breast and colon cancer, as well adult vaccination rates
Facilitate communication and share information and resources related to current policy, practice, and regulation in regard to health disparities and pandemic preparedness
Build evidence for delivery system reforms to advance procurement, use, and reimbursement for diagnostic tests, treatments, and vaccines
**Our Methods**
To achieve our mission, we will:
Develop and support research to reduce** inequity in healthcare delivery through metrics and data analytics in a public-private partnership model
Bring together thought leaders to identify how approaches to value-based healthcare delivery may be changed to reduce health disparities
Identify business practices that are effective in narrowing health disparities and provide recommendations for broader adoption of effective practices
