ABOUT US Be who you are, where you are Our work is grounded in the simple, yet revolutionary belief every person should be able to live safely, openly, and genuinely in all the places we call home. This is the same belief that has guided our visionary leaders for more than three decades. Pride Foundation was founded in 1985, in the midst of the HIV & AIDS crisis, by a small but courageous group of people who came together to create a source of light and hope during a period of profound darkness. Together, we have invested more than $70 million in transformative community change in pursuit of this vision. Your LGBTQ Community Foundation Pride Foundation is the only LGBTQ community foundation serving the Northwest region of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. MISSION Pride Foundation inspires giving to expand opportunities and advance full equality for LGBTQ people across the Northwest. VISION We envision a world in which all LGBTQ youth, adults, and families enjoy the freedom to live safely, openly, and genuinely. PHILOSOPHY Our work is grounded in social justice philanthropy. We are committed to: - Harnessing our fundraising, grantmaking, program, and advocacy efforts to address root causes of discrimination impacting the LGBTQ community; - Supporting community leaders and organizations that work to eliminate long-standing barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources for LGBTQ people; and - Expanding and deepening the level of engagement among all LGBTQ people and allies, including people who are economically, racially, socially, geographically, or politically disenfranchised. HISTORY A History of Fueling Movements Pride Foundation was founded more than 30 years ago on the shoulders of generations of leaders who brought simple but revolutionary values to our movement: the courage to truly see one another, the compassion to recognize our shared humanity, and the conviction to show up every day to protect one another. Creating long-lasting, systemic change will take these same values of courage, compassion, and conviction that have guided Pride Foundation since our doors first opened.
