Shepherds for the Savior

ABOUT US We are a 501 (c) (3) Private Foundation whose mission is to help support the spiritual and financial needs of Christian ministries and individuals worldwide through our various grant programs. HISTORY OF SHEPHERDS FOR THE SAVIOR Shepherds for the Savior was formed in November of 2003 based on a vision that Dr. Charles D. Johnson had for over 20 years. In 1983 Dr. Johnson, along with the help of several family members and friends began pursuing a TV license for the Conroe area. The idea behind the acquisition of the TV license was to have a local Christian-based TV station that would generate enough income to support his ministry of spreading the message of Jesus by supporting ministries worldwide. The TV license was finally obtained in 1993. In 1997, the programming rights were sold and in 1998 KTBU TV Station went on the air. In January of 2004, the IRS recognized Shepherds for the Savior as a 501(c)(3) Private Foundation. In September of 2004, all stock in the TV license was sold and the proceeds were gifted to Shepherds for the Savior. The sale provided the funds for the foundation to help support the financial needs of Christian missions and ministries worldwide thus fulfilling the vision that Dr. Charles D. Johnson started in 1983. Dr. Johnson served the Lord for more than 50 years in Christian leadership roles: preaching, teaching, and leading mission trips. His life was dedicated to the Lord and sharing the message of Jesus with everyone he met. He left a legacy of love and service for all who knew him. His vision continues to touch many lives and ministries today and will carry on for many years through the work of Shepherds for the Savior.
