**About Us** South Australia has a long, rich history at the forefront of Australia’s space endeavours. A hub for world-class research, a dynamic full-service ecosystem and space companies and start-ups developing innovative space technologies and capabilities – South Australia is the pace to be. In September 2017, the South Australian Government established the South Australian Space Industry Centre (SASIC) to lead the state’s space industry development efforts and provide responsive support to drive the growth in the sector. Operating within the State Government agency Defence SA, SASIC provides a prominent platform to promote and attract investment in the state’s space industry, working closely with the Australian Space Agency to align with national space priorities. SASIC drives industry and workforce development through a range of initiatives. These include leading infrastructure projects, events, grants and support for programs designed to accelerate local research and development, boost innovation, drive start-up development and inspire and train the next generation of space leaders. The growth of South Australia’s space industry will play a pivotal role in the state’s economic prosperity. Working closely with Invest SA, SASIC also provides a focal point for local industry and international organisations to connect and maximise investment opportunities within the state’s burgeoning space sector. Today, South Australia is home to the Australian Space Agency, [Responsive Space Operations Centre](https://sasic.sa.gov.au/precinctsprojects/australian-space-discovery-centre/), Australia’s only lunar and Martian surface simulation laboratory, and a future space assembly, integration and test facility and more than 100 space-related organisations, the state’s space capabilities span launch and return, satellite manufacturing, mission control and Earth observation.
