Our History
CIGH was formed by Dr. Michele Barry in 2010. After being recruited to Stanford from Yale, Dr. Barry drew on her experience as a tropical disease physician and global health leader to foster a thriving global health community at Stanford, and to build a center focused on excellence in clinical training and capacity building in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). CIGH quickly grew to become a university-wide hub that brings all students and faculty together to pursue training opportunities and research in global health.
