**Mission** The Summerfield G. Roberts Foundation was established in 1990 at the conclusion of the lifetime trust created by Dallas businessman Summerfield G. Roberts for his wife, [Annie Lee Warren Roberts](https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/roberts-annie-lee-warren). The foundation began with a corpus of about $6 million and provides equal financial assistance in three areas: support of the study, teaching, research, and dissemination of Texas history; scholarships and grants to students and physicians conducting medical research; and scholarships for Texas residents for graduate work in business, commerce, finance, and oil and gas.
