**About us** We shape Victoria’s circular economy on behalf of the state government. We partner across industry and the community as a transition broker for the circular economy — with the intent of reducing or stopping waste before it starts, in every part of the system. Our Strategic Plan (2024-2027) outlines key delivery priorities for the next 3 years and how we will shape Victoria’s circular economy on behalf of state government. Transitioning to a circular economy is essential to address the impacts of climate change and to achieve net zero emissions by 2045. This plan outlines the role Sustainability Victoria will play in shaping that transition, and how we can deliver the most impact. We will provide the long-term capability, knowledge, and action on the Circular Economy for the state government. This will close the loop between recovering more recycled materials and using them more in product design and manufacturing. This in turn will reduce Victoria’s demand for the virgin raw materials and the non-renewable energy sources that are used in existing manufacturing processes. We will focus on stopping waste before it starts – minimising waste at the start of the supply chain will lead to less pressure on the system as a whole. We will partner across industry and the community as a transition broker for this systematic change required to develop Victoria’s circular economy – work that we are already heavily engaged in, with established partnerships, a thriving innovation eco-system, and a track record of delivering impactful circular programs. There will be 3 focus areas for Sustainability Victoria: 1. Determining what is needed next and building the case for circularity in Victoria. 2. Demonstrating what is possible to close the loop between recycling, design and manufacturing. 3. Making it easier for industry and communities to take part in circular behaviours that will increase participation. The Strategic Plan (2024-2027) supports Sustainability Victoria’s SV2030 long term framework and goals of transitioning to a circular, climate resilient and clean economy.
