Welcome to Theater and Dance At SIUE, we are more than performers—we are makers. Our department is a creative laboratory where students and faculty collaborate to invent, explore, and transform through theater and dance. Whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the studio, we cultivate artists who design, devise, choreograph, and innovate, shaping the future of the performing arts. Rooted in rigorous training and inspired by imagination, our vision is to empower students to become bold storytellers and collaborative creators who bring new ideas to life. **Facilities for Artistic Expression** SIUE Department of Theater and Dance is located in Dunham Hall. Named for internationally renowned dancer, author, anthropologist and social activist, Katherine Dunham, the building serves as home to theater and dance, mass communications and music. Dunham Hall features a 350 seat proscenium theater, scene shop, costume shop, dance studios and rehearsal halls. In addition to Dunham Hall Theater, department productions also play in the flexible-seating black box Metcalf Theater.
