**About the Office of Fossil Energy** The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy (FE) is made up of about 750 federal employees—scientists, engineers, technicians, and administrative staff. Its headquarters offices are in downtown Washington, DC, and in Germantown, MD. The organization also includes the National Energy Technology Laboratory with offices in Morgantown, WV, Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX, Albany, OR, and Anchorage, AK. FE advances technologies related to affordable, reliable, and secure use of fossil fuels that are important to our Nation’s security and economic prosperity while developing technological solutions for the prudent and sustainable development of our domestic coal, oil, gas, and critical minerals resources.
