**United Way of DeKalb County's Vision** is to enable people to work together creating a thriving and vibrant community for all. **United Way of DeKalb County's Mission** is to fight for the health, education, and financial stability for every person in our community. It's a credo. A mission. A goal. A constant reminder that when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. We build the strength of our neighborhoods. We bolster the health of our communities. And we change the lives of those who walk by us every day. **United Way of DeKalb County's History** The United Way of DeKalb County, Inc. was originally organized by a small group of community visionaries in 1960. The "DeKalb United Fund for You" raised $49,195 during their first campaign and with those dollars were able to help support nine agencies. One founder of the United Way of DeKalb County was Ms. Barbara S. Oren. It was through her spirit and determination that we have grown to the successful organization that we are today. Today, the United Way of DeKalb County is able to help fund multiple programs within DeKalb County through our Community Impact grants as well as our Community Impact Partners. The United Way of DeKalb County is also a United Way Worldwide and Indiana Association of United Ways member.
