Description
**About Us**
**Our Vision**
**Be a catalyst for sustainable community-driven change to build a healthy future with empowerment for all.**
**Our Mission**
**To serve as a trusted community leader by leveraging resources in support of collaborative solutions.**
**Our History**
Since 1923, United Way of Pueblo County has served as a trusted leader, committed to improving lives and strengthening our community. With deep roots in Southern Colorado, our organization has consistently evolved to meet the changing needs of the people we serve, mobilizing resources, building partnerships, and creating opportunities for lasting impact.
Over the past five years alone, United Way of Pueblo County has successfully leveraged nearly $20 million through fundraising, emergency assistance, in-kind support, volunteer contributions, and reinvested outreach program dollars. This achievement reflects not only the generosity of our supporters but also our strategic approach to addressing the community's most pressing challenges.
Our work is guided by four key pillars:
- **Community Resilience**
- [**Community Resource Hub**](https://www.pueblounitedway.org/community-resource-hub)
- **Economic Mobility and Opportunity**
- [Bank On Pueblo County](https://www.pueblounitedway.org/community-resource-hub)
- [Financial Empowerment Center](https://www.pueblounitedway.org/fec)
- [Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program](https://www.pueblounitedway.org/vita)
- **Nonprofit Capacity Development**
- [Nonprofit LEAD Center](https://www.pueblounitedway.org/LEAD)
- **Youth Success**
- [Middle School Mentoring Program](https://www.pueblounitedway.org/mentor)
Through these pillars, we deliver essential programs, strengthen local nonprofits, and support collaborative solutions that help build a more equitable and resilient community.
As we build on our legacy of over a century of service, our focus remains on uniting people, resources, and ideas to drive measurable change today and for generations to come.
Today, United Way of Southern Colorado UWSC proudly serves 31 counties across Colorado, including:

Thanks to the generosity of donors over the past century, thousands of individuals and families have received the support they need to thrive.
**Values Statement**
At United Way of Southern Colorado, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) are not just principles; we consider them essential to achieving meaningful and lasting change in our community.
For over a century, we've stood for unity, compassion, and collective action in times of need. Today, that commitment means recognizing and addressing the deeply rooted inequities that continue to impact the lives of many. We acknowledge that structural racism, ethnic discrimination, and other forms of systemic oppression have created disparities that persist across generations, affecting access to opportunity, education, health, and economic mobility.
We firmly oppose all forms of racism and discrimination. These forces not only harm individuals, they erode the strength, health, and vitality of our entire community.
We believe that shared progress is only possible when everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or background, has equitable access to thrive. This means actively working to remove barriers, amplify underrepresented voices, and invest in community-led solutions that uplift the most marginalized.
As we move forward, United Way of Southern Colorado remains committed to learning, evolving, and ensuring that our partnerships, policies, and programs reflect and uphold the values of justice, equity, and inclusion for every person in Southern Colorado.
