Welcome to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics Our Department’s scientific endeavor is centered on the idea that a quantitative and mechanistic framework is pivotal to our understanding of biological function. Our goal is to obtain a molecular understanding of how biological molecules carry out their functions and to elucidate the properties that drive the molecular interactions underlying both physiological and disease states. Our research integrates methodologies rooted in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, chemical and computational biology, and molecular biology. This integrated approach will provide the foundation for rational development of genetic and drug therapies, and ultimately personalized medicine. We strive to provide a welcoming and open environment for our Faculty, Students, Postdoctoral Fellows and Staff. We value a collegial approach to science that allows for new ideas and scientific debate to thrive. It is our mission to provide rigorous training of our Students and Trainees and foster the development of the next generation of scientists.
