Department for Education, Children and Young People The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) was established in 2022 to deliver better outcomes for all Tasmanian children and young people, especially our most vulnerable. The Department is responsible for Public Education, Child and Family Learning Centres, Libraries, Child Safety, Out of Home Care, and Youth Justice. DECYP provides services to help all Tasmanians to learn, no matter their age, their background or where they live. It also delivers statewide policy, programs and services to support and improve the safety and wellbeing of Tasmanian children, young people, families, carers and our staff.
